About the Role:
We are seeking a friendly, reliable, and customer-focused
Shop Assistant
to join our team on the beautiful island of
St. Helena
. The successful candidate will support the day-to-day running of the store, deliver excellent customer service, and ensure shelves are well-stocked and the store is clean and welcoming.
Key Responsibilities:
Greet and assist customers in a warm, professional manner
Operate the till and handle cash and card transactions
Restock shelves, check product expiry dates, and maintain stock levels
Assist with inventory checks and deliveries
Keep the shop floor, checkout area, and stockroom clean and organised
Support promotional displays and seasonal campaigns
Handle customer queries, returns, and complaints in line with store policies
Work as part of a team to achieve sales targets and maintain high standards
Requirements:
Previous experience in a retail or customer service role (desirable but not essential)
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Strong work ethic and attention to detail
Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
Basic numeracy and literacy skills
Reliable, punctual, and trustworthy
Flexible to work shifts, including weekends and holidays
You need to be able to pay for your own flight from South Africa to St Helena, as well as your own accommodation
