We're looking for a passionate, driven, and experienced

Shop Manager

to lead the success of our charity retail shop. This is an exciting opportunity for a commercially minded retail professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is motivated by making a real difference in the community.

As Shop Manager, you will take full ownership of the shop's day-to-day operations -- from visual merchandising and team leadership to meeting sales targets and strengthening our presence in the local area. You'll be hands-on in shaping the shop's reputation, ensuring it becomes a welcoming, engaging, and commercially successful destination from day one.

Key Responsibilities



Sales & Profitability



Drive commercial performance by maximising sales and consistently achieving or exceeding set targets. Promote and optimise key income streams, including Gift Aid, donation drives, and seasonal campaigns. Identify local market opportunities, customer trends, and commercial gaps to grow revenue.

Fundraising & Community Impact



Play an active role in fundraising initiatives, supporting both in-store and wider organisational campaigns. Build strong relationships within the community to amplify the shop's impact and encourage donations, partnerships, and event participation.

Digital & Social Media Engagement



Use social media effectively to promote the shop, highlight new stock, advertise events, and engage with local supporters. Create appealing and consistent content to raise the profile of the shop and increase footfall and donations.

Customer Experience



Set high standards for customer service, ensuring every visitor receives a warm, helpful, and memorable experience. Lead by example, promoting a positive, customer-focused environment at all times.

Team Recruitment & Leadership



Recruit, train, motivate, and support a diverse team of volunteers. Build an inclusive, enthusiastic, and supportive workplace culture where everyone feels valued. Lead performance management, including goal setting, regular feedback, and proactive issue resolution.

Shop Presentation & Merchandising



Ensure excellent visual standards throughout the shop, creating displays that maximise appeal and drive sales. Maintain a clean, well-organised, and inspiring retail environment.

Stock Control & Flow



Oversee the full stock management process including sorting, pricing, rotating, and replenishing donations. Ensure a consistent flow of high-quality, well-presented goods.

Compliance & Safety



Ensure full adherence to health and safety regulations, safeguarding procedures, and all organisational policies.

Cash Handling & Reporting



Manage tills, daily banking, financial reporting, and work confidently within set budgets. Monitor KPIs and use insights to guide commercial decisions.

What We're Looking For



Proven experience in retail management (charity retail experience welcomed but not essential) Strong leadership skills with the ability to build, develop, and inspire a team Highly commercial mindset with a track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets Confident in using social media to promote retail activity and engage customers Strong drive for fundraising and community engagement Excellent customer service and communication abilities Organised, proactive, and capable of working independently with confidence Experience working with volunteers and promoting an inclusive, positive team environment
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: 21,000.00-23,850.00 per year
