Shop & Cafe Manager - Job Role
The Farm Shop & Cafe Manager is responsible for enforcing strict operational standards across all aspects of the farm shop and cafe. This role requires a firm, authoritative approach to staff management, ensuring every team member follows procedures exactly as instructed. The manager must maintain full control of daily operations, ensure absolute compliance with policies, and take immediate action when standards are not met.
Key Responsibilities
Authoritative Staff Management
Maintain strict oversight of staff at all times, ensuring all duties are completed correctly, on schedule, and without repeated reminders.
Enforce all shop rules, policies, and operating procedures with zero tolerance for non-compliance.
Address incomplete tasks immediately and document all performance issues for review and follow-up.
Ensure staff remain fully focused on their responsibilities--no unnecessary idling, or deviation from assigned tasks.
Lead by example with a firm, disciplined, and highly professional presence on the shop floor.
Tight Operational Control
Conduct continuous checks throughout the day to ensure cleanliness, stock rotation, product quality, and shop presentation meet strict standards.
Ensure opening and closing procedures are followed precisely and that no steps are skipped or overlooked.
Ensure all health, safety, and hygiene regulations are upheld at all times, addressing issues the moment they arise.
Implement and enforce detailed workflows and routines that staff must follow without exception.
Inventory & Stock Management
Enforce strict stock rotation procedures to maintain freshness and product quality.
Identify discrepancies or stock issues immediately and take corrective action.
Ensure deliveries are checked, logged, and stored correctly, with no deviation from procedure.
Customer Service Oversight
Ensure staff deliver consistent, efficient, and professional customer service at all times.
Respond to customer complaints promptly and firmly, addressing staff performance where necessary.
Maintain a high standard of shop presentation, ensuring displays, pricing, and signage are accurate and fully up to company standard.

This position is full-time (4 days a week), and you must be flexible as shifts will include weekdays and weekends. Hours to be discussed.
