Summary
We are seeking a dedicated Shunter Driver to join our team in Telford. In this role, you will ensure the safe, efficient, and compliant movement of trailers and vehicles within the yard and loading areas, supporting the smooth flow of transport operations. This role is critical in maintaining food safety standards and operational efficiency in line with company and industry regulations
Responsibilities
Safely shunt trailers between loading bays, parking areas, and designated zones.
Maintain clear traffic flow within the yard to prevent congestion and accidents.
Maintaining front yard cleaners including loading bays & trailers wash.
General yard maintenance readiness.
Perform daily pre-use checks on shunting vehicles and report defects immediately.
Ensure trailers are correctly coupled/uncoupled following safety procedures.
Adhere to DVSA and company transport compliance standards.
Vehicle safety and compliance.
Food industry standards & hygiene.
Maintain accurate records of trailer movements and yard activity.
Communicate effectively with warehouse and transport teams to coordinate. loading/unloading schedules.
Person Specification
Proven experience as a Shunter Driver or Yard Operative (preferred).
Valid driving license (Class 1 licence or equivalent shunter licence.
Knowledge of vehicle and yard safety and operations.
Understanding of food safety and hygiene standards (training provided).
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Strong communication and attention to detail.
