Based in Canary Wharf, we deliver high-quality, industry-relevant training that equips students with the skills needed to excel in their careers. Key purpose of the role

The Security Program Tutor will deliver engaging and effective lessons for security-related qualifications, helping students to achieve industry-standard certifications. The ideal candidate will be passionate about teaching and have a strong background in the security industry, with an ability to relate real-world scenarios to training material.

Some of the key responsibilities of the role

Programme Delivery:

Deliver high-quality lessons for courses such as Door Supervisor, Security Guard, CCTV Operator, and First Aid, following the guidelines set by regulatory bodies (e.g., SIA, Ofqual).

Assessment and Evaluation:

Assess and evaluate students' performance through exams, practical assessments, and coursework, ensuring all training outcomes and qualifications are achieved.

Curriculum Development:

Update and improve course content to reflect the latest industry regulations and best practices in line with awarding bodies such as Trident, Laser Learning Awards, and NOCN.

Student Support:

Provide academic support and mentorship to students, ensuring they are adequately prepared for examinations and the practical demands of security roles.

Regulatory Compliance:

Ensure that all training and assessments comply with SIA and other regulatory standards. Maintain accurate records of student progress and feedback, including compliance with EQA and other external reviews.

Continuous Improvement:

Stay informed about industry changes, security legislation, and training best practices. Attend CPD (Continuing Professional Development) sessions and participate in internal training as needed.

Administrative Duties:

Assist in maintaining student attendance records, preparing reports for internal and external audits, and contributing to quality assurance processes.

Role requirements

Essential:

SIA-recognised qualification (e.g., Door Supervisor, Security Guard). Teaching qualification such as PTLLS (Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector), CTLLS, DTLLS, or equivalent. At least 2 years of hands-on experience in the security industry. Knowledge of relevant training programs and regulations (SIA, Ofqual, Trident, Laser Learning Awards).

Desirable:

Assessor qualification (e.g., A1 or CAVA). Experience delivering ESOL or employability skills courses. Experience working with diverse learner groups, including unemployed individuals seeking up-skilling.

Skills and Attributes:

Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and inspire students from various backgrounds. Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage time effectively and meet deadlines. Ability to relate practical security industry experiences to course content, enhancing student learning. Strong IT skills and familiarity with online learning platforms (for potential online course delivery). A passion for teaching and a commitment to student success and progression.

Pay: Up to 30,000.00 per year
