Site Engineering Manager

to lead our engineering team and play a pivotal role within the Site Leadership Team at our Beenham site.

So, what's the mission?




You'll be at the heart of our manufacturing site in Beenham, steering the engineering department. This is more than just managing; it's about leading our site engineering towards peak performance. You'll expertly guide your team to exceed vital manufacturing, service, safety, quality, and cost control goals, all while driving Health & Safety, fostering environmental performance, nurturing people development, and upholding the highest engineering standards across the board.



As a strategic thinker, you'll develop and execute game-changing plans to boost reliability, maximise asset utilisation, and optimise operational flow. You are the driving force behind our site's engineering strategy, ensuring complex equipment runs at peak efficiency and empowering your team to excel. You'll also provide critical engineering support and actively contribute to the vision and strategic direction of the site, working closely with the Site Operations Manager and functional leaders.



A significant part of your mission focuses on building and nurturing a high-performing engineering team. This means championing essential training, establishing robust succession plans, and cultivating a vibrant culture of continuous learning and growth. Beyond team development, you'll relentlessly pursue operational excellence, striving for higher OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness) by using insightful data to identify improvements, tackle root causes of failures, and continually optimise our maintenance strategies.



Your impact will be truly strategic. You'll expertly manage the engineering budget, driving efficiency and uncovering valuable cost-saving opportunities. You'll lead significant capital projects and play a key role in our continuous improvement journey. You'll also be integral to site risk management, contributing to wider improvement initiatives, and consistently ensuring the highest standards of housekeeping and compliance are maintained across all engineering activities.



What are the mission-critical skills?



Proven experience leading large engineering teams (15+) within a unionised manufacturing environment Minimum of 3 years' experience in a medium to large-scale automated manufacturing operation Degree-level education or equivalent, supported by time-served electrical and/or mechanical apprenticeship Strong financial acumen with experience in budget management and cost control Familiarity with managing capital investment programmes (essential) Qualified in IOSH Managing Safely or NEBOSH General Certificate Proficient in the development and use of Computerised Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) and stock control platforms Demonstrated ability to work with and improve engineering schedule KPIs Understanding of OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness) and its practical application in performance improvement Knowledge of continuous improvement and lean manufacturing tools such as Problem Solving, 5S, and SMED Project management skills, including the ability to lead and deliver change initiatives (Prince2 or similar qualification desirable)
