To supervise and coordinate all on-site civil engineering activities, ensuring works are delivered safely, on time, to specification, and within budget. The Site Foreman will be a hands-on leader responsible for managing teams, subcontractors, and ensuring all site operations adhere to high standards of quality and compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
Oversee daily operations and workforce on civil engineering construction sites (e.g., drainage, earthworks, roads, utilities).
Act as the primary on-site point of contact for workers and subcontractors.
Ensure work is completed in accordance with technical drawings, risk assessments, and method statements.
Manage and enforce site health & safety regulations and ensure all personnel comply with RAMS and company policies.
Monitor progress against programme and report updates to the Site or Project Manager.
Coordinate deliveries, plant, and materials to ensure work continuity.
Supervise quality control checks and rectify any issues promptly.
Maintain accurate site records including timesheets, daily logs, permits, and inspection reports.
Participate in site meetings, toolbox talks, and briefings.
Provide mentoring and guidance to less experienced operatives or apprentices.
Requirements:
Essential:
Minimum 10 years' hands-on experience in civil engineering or groundworks.
Proven track record of supervising site teams and delivering civil projects.
Strong working knowledge of HSE standards, CDM regulations, and construction best practices.
Excellent communication and leadership skills.
Full UK Driving Licence.
Desirable:
SMSTS
Black CSCS Card (NVQ Level 6 - Construction Site Management or equivalent).
First Aid at Work qualification.
Temporary Works Supervisor (TWS) or Coordinator (TWC) certification.
Experience working for Tier 1 contractors or on public infrastructure projects.
