Job Overview
The Site Manager is responsible for overseeing and delivering high-quality soft service operations within a warehouse or distribution centre. This role ensures a clean, safe, efficient and compliant working environment through effective management of cleaning teams, waste management, pest control, security coordination, grounds maintenance and associated service providers. The manager will lead operational planning, ensure cost-effective service delivery, and maintain strong relationships with internal staff, suppliers and contractors.
Operational Management
Oversee day-to-day soft services including cleaning, waste management, recycling, te hygiene.
Ensure warehouse facilities meet required cleanliness, safety and presentation standards.
Develop schedules, work plans and service delivery frameworks to maintain operational efficiency.
Conduct regular site inspections, audits and risk assessments to maintain compliance with health, safety and environmental regulations.
Team Leadership
Manage, motivate and support cleaning operatives and other soft service personnel.
Provide training, development and performance monitoring for the soft-service team.
Manage staffing rotas, recruitment, inductions, and absence management to ensure full coverage.
Compliance & Safety
Ensure all soft services comply with warehouse operational policies, H&S guidelines and regulatory standards.
Maintain accurate documentation, including risk assessments, COSHH registers and audit reports.
Lead investigations and corrective actions in response to incidents or non-compliance.
Supplier & Contract Management
Manage external service providers, review performance and ensure contract compliance.
Work with procurement to source materials, cleaning agents, and equipment at optimal cost.
Drive efficiencies and monitor expenditure to meet budget targets.
Continuous Improvement
Identify opportunities to improve service delivery, sustainability and cost control.
Implement new procedures and SMART KPIs to enhance productivity and cleanliness standards.
Champion warehouse hygiene, recycling, and environmental initiatives.
Skills & Experience Required:
Previous management experience in soft services, facilities or warehouse FM environment.
Strong understanding of H&S regulations and site compliance requirements.
Experience managing teams and external contractors.
Excellent organisational and time-management skills.
Ability to analyse data, generate reports and implement improvements.
Strong communication and leadership skills with a hands-on approach.
Preferred Qualifications:
IOSH/NEBOSH or equivalent H&S certification (desirable).
BICSc training or cleaning management qualification (advantageous).
Experience in fast-paced warehouse, logistics or manufacturing sector.
