Job Purpose
Assist with the day-to-day security of buildings and grounds, including arming/disarming intruder alarms and locking all doors and windows at the end of the academy day as required.
Act as a key holder and be available for emergencies arising from the academy's intruder alarm system.
Support the maintenance of the academy's CCTV equipment and software, ensuring effective operation at all times.
Provide general assistance including porterage, moving furniture, and handling deliveries, ensuring the academy entrance remains clear and welcoming.
Escort contractors and visitors when required.
Participate in and assist with academy fire drills.
Responsibilities
Assist with the unlocking and securing of buildings and sites as required.
Conduct regular inspections of academy facilities, documenting required repairs or maintenance tasks to maintain safety and functionality.
Assist in the setup and breakdown of facilities for special events, ensuring all logistical details are efficiently managed.
Support lettings on site, including setup/takedown of equipment, responding to customer requests, and maintaining clean and stocked areas.
Undertake reactive and planned maintenance tasks including plumbing, carpentry, lighting, furniture construction, drainage, decorating, and cleaning.
Respond to maintenance requests from the Trust's helpdesk system, prioritising and completing tasks efficiently and proactively.
Liaise with staff regarding maintenance work, providing estimated timings, and informing them of any impacts or alternative arrangements.
Lead small works and minor projects as directed by the Estates Manager.
Support planning and delivery of key Trust/academy events (e.g. Open Evenings).
Report defects, damage, or vandalism to the Estates Manager and take appropriate follow-up action.
Support the supervision of traffic control and car parking on site when required.
Assist with Health and Safety inspections, risk assessments, and general compliance under the direction of the Estates Manager.
Promote awareness of Health and Safety practices across the Trust for both staff and pupils.
Supervise and monitor day-to-day cleaning, and undertake cleaning duties when required.
Ensure external litter bins are emptied regularly and that outdoor areas are clean and litter-free.
Ensure compliance with Academy policies including safeguarding, health and safety, security, confidentiality, and data protection.
Undertake IOSH (Institution of Occupational Safety and Health) training to enhance health and safety understanding.
Participate in training, development, and performance reviews as required.
Assist with emergencies occurring outside normal working hours.
