Overall Purpose of the role:
This is an exciting new role to be based at the Newcastle site, reporting to the HR Manager. The Training Coordinator will be responsible for the coordination, implementation, and oversight of all training activities on site. This includes maintaining the training matrix and records, ensuring Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Safe Systems of Work (SSOW), and compliance documentation are up to date and properly implemented across departments. The role plays a critical part in ensuring a skilled, compliant, and confident workforce.
Key Responsibilities:
Training Management
Develop, coordinate, and schedule all site training activities, including onboarding, refresher, compliance, and job-specific training.
Maintain the site training matrix, ensuring accurate records for all employees, contractors, and temporary staff.
Track training completion, highlight gaps, and proactively work with department managers to close them.
Organise and facilitate training sessions internally and with external providers as required.
Compliance & Documentation
Oversee the creation, review, and implementation of SOPs and SSOW to ensure they reflect current best practices and legal requirements.
Ensure all compliance-related training (e.g., food safety, hygiene, allergen awareness, manual handling) is delivered and recorded accurately.
Support audits (internal and external) by providing up-to-date training documentation and evidence of compliance.
Stakeholder Engagement
Work closely with production, quality, health & safety, and HR teams to ensure training needs are met across the site.
Act as the go-to contact for all training-related queries and support line managers in identifying individual and departmental training needs.
Continuous Improvement
Evaluate the effectiveness of training programs through feedback, assessments, and on-the-job performance.
Identify opportunities to enhance training delivery methods and content to support operational excellence.
Contribute to the development of a training culture focused on safety, quality, and performance.

Requirements:
Essential:
Proven experience in a training or learning & development role, ideally within a manufacturing or food production environment.
Strong administrative and organisational skills with experience managing training matrices and records.
Knowledge of SOPs, SSOW, and regulatory compliance in a food manufacturing setting.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to engage colleagues at all levels.
IT proficiency - confident with MS Office, particularly Excel, and familiarity with training or HR systems.
Desirable:
Qualification in Training/L&D, such as Level 3 Award in Education & Training (PTLLS) or equivalent.
Food safety or health and safety qualification (e.g., Level 2/3 Food Safety, IOSH Managing Safely).
Experience supporting BRCGS audits or similar food safety accreditations.
