Froth and Mallow, a specialty coffee and dessert bar located near Wood Green, Turnpike Lane, Hornsey, and Alexandra Palace stations, is seeking a passionate and experienced individual to join our team as a Barista.
We are looking to fill this position as soon as possible.
Key Requirements:
- Minimum of one year of recent Barista experience is essential.
- Must have morning availability.
- Food safety and hygiene Level 2 is required; Level 3 is desired or can be completed upon acceptance of the offer.
- A natural talent for multitasking and a hard working attitude.
- Presentation; well groomed and high standards of personal hygiene.
In particular:
To begin a shift at 6am; are you able to commute to the location within 30 minutes?
are you experienced in coffee dialing in?
can you demonstrate the various milk texturising techniques?
are you able to present latte art?
are you able to consistently produce drinks such as Flat Whites and lattes?
are you an excellent communicator who can effortlessly and quickly build a rapport with customers?
Responsibilities:
- Prepare and serve a range of hot/cold beverages, including coffee, tea, specialty drinks, frappes, smoothies and more... ensuring consistency and adherence to company standards.
- fulfilled tasks related to food prep, pastry/cake display .....
- Manage time effectively during busy periods to ensure prompt and high quality service.
- Deliver warm, friendly, and efficient service, and resolve customer issues discreetly.
- Assist customers with menu selections and answer queries.
- Handle cash/automated transactions accurately using the point-of-sale system.
- Maintain the cleanliness of workstations, equipment (Sanremo F18 coffee machine, Mahlkonig E80 supreme, and Sanremo SR50 grinders), and customer areas in line with health and safety regulations.
- Restock supplies as needed and follow food preparation and portion control guidelines.
- Consistently maintain food safety and hygiene standards throughout all operations.
Shift pattern to alternate between 2 - 5 mornings:
- Days: Monday to Friday
- Hours: 6:00 AM to 10:30 AM
- Sat/Sun: approx 11 AM to 3 PM (with flexibility)
Qualifications:
- Previous barista experience is essential.
- Knowledge of food safety standards and practices is desirable.
- Basic food preparation skills for creating beverages and light snacks.
- Good basic math skills for handling accurate transactions.
- Friendly, approachable manner with excellent communication skills.
Interview Process:
The interview process will be in two parts.
Candidates successful in the initial stage will be invited in-store for a practical demonstration of their skills, which must include:
- Dialing in coffee.
- Coffee brewing and extraction techniques.
- Advanced milk texturing skills and latte art.
Contract:
Zero hours part- time.
Pay:
As per National Government recommendation and based upon the age of the employee.
