experienced Deep Drainage Gangs
to help us deliver high-quality civil engineering and infrastructure projects across the South East.

Key Responsibilities
Technical Competence
Read and interpret technical drawings, drainage layouts, and specifications accurately.
Safely set up and operate trench boxes, manhole boxes, drag boxes, and trench sheets.
Operate pipe lasers to achieve correct line and level.
Lay and joint concrete, clay, and plastic pipes of various diameters, ensuring correct bedding, surround, and testing procedures are followed.
Excavate, construct, and bench manholes and inspection chambers to specification.
Drainage & Groundwater Management
Manage groundwater effectively, including the safe setup and operation of pumps.
Maintain correct trench preparation and backfilling processes to prevent settlement or failure.
Ensure all drainage works meet design and quality standards.
Health, Safety & Site Coordination
Work safely around live services, using approved service avoidance techniques.
Carry out daily pre-start checks and basic maintenance on plant and tools.
Report maintenance needs or defects promptly to site management.
Maintain clear communication with site engineers, supervisors, and plant operators to ensure smooth workflow and programme delivery.
Desirable External Works Skills
Kerbing, edging, slab laying, and block paving.
Good understanding of materials and methods used in underground drainage, road formation, and hard/soft landscaping.
Skills & Experience
5-10+ years' experience
in skilled groundworks, specialising in
deep drainage installation
.
Proven experience working as part of a
drainage gang
or small site team.
Valid
CSCS card
(operative or above).
CPCS/NPORS (CSCS-affiliated)
tickets for relevant plant (e.g. 360 Excavator, Dumper, Roller).
Strong awareness of safety practices and methodical working.
Reliable, punctual, and committed to delivering quality work.
Must hold a
valid Right to Work in the UK
.
