Skilled Operative with LGV - Drive Progress Across North Yorkshire

Location: Selby, North Yorkshire

Contract: Permanent, Full-time, 40 hours per week

Salary: From 30,273 per year (Grade 4)

What You'll Do

Work closely with the Ganger to carry out a wide range of skilled tasks including kerbing, drainage installation, patching, ironwork renewal, street furniture installation, and more. You'll also handle general maintenance duties like site upkeep, traffic management, and roadside verge maintenance, and operate specialist highways plant equipment and tools. This role includes participation in an out-of-hours call-out rota for emergencies and winter maintenance.

What We Offer

Starting salary from 29,449 (Grade 4)

An additional day for each year you work with us, up to 5 years continuous service increasing from 24 to 29 days allowance, plus bank holidays.

What You'll Bring

We're looking for candidates with a mix of the following skills and experience:

Banksman

Manual Handling

Abrasive wheels

Emergency First Aid

Safe Dig

Traffic Management TM1 and TM2

Relevant Level 2 qualification in highway maintenance or equivalent experience

HGV Driving License

City & Guilds Winter 6159 certification (or willingness to train)

This is a physically active role, requiring you to work outdoors in all weathers. A reasonable level of fitness is required. Full Personal Protective Equipment, including outdoor clothing, will be provided.
