Tour Boat Guides - Freelance

Spend summer on the water!

Sailing from North Berwick and Dunbar, we have exciting openings for friendly, enthusiastic, flexible and easy-going guides for our summer season boat tours. You'll understand the need for varied hours, flexibility, changing plans depending on weather, ideally working for the full-season, or if you prefer, part-season, at weekends or evenings.

You'll be flexible, positive, happy, assured and well organised as the main person responsible for managing and informing passengers about wildlife and history from onboard and when landing at islands. You may not have been a guide previously but you must have exceptional interpersonal skills and as part of our team, we can train you on the local seabirds and mammals. If you're an experienced tour guide with no boat skills, then we train essential boat handling procedures and techniques for crew.

BlueWild is an independent tour boat company, run by a small team with everyone working together to deliver excellent, informal and exhilarating nature, photography, history and geology tours.

We sail to the Bass Rock - the world's 3rd largest gannet colony, to the Isle of May with 100,000 puffins, and other nearby islands. We run highly specified 10-12 seat Redbay 12m and 8.5m cabin ribs, taking mainly international visitors on scheduled tours and private charters. Read about us at bluewild.co.uk

You need a current medical (ML5 or ENG1) certificate or we can help you organise this. Our main season runs from 1 April to mid-October with other sailings and crew training in March. This is a freelance, self-employed job with a good hourly rate for all work on and off the boats.

You must be based in East Lothian for the season or be able to reliably commute to suit the variety of tour sailing times from North Berwick and Dunbar. If you're an enthusiastic person, love being on the water and would like to join our team then please apply now, let's chat and meet.
