Overview

Working within the Production Department the SMT Cell Lead will be assisting the Manufacturing Lead or Team Lead in running the production cell to achieve on-time delivery of customer orders and safety stock demand. When requested the Cell Lead will be responsible for the running of the production cells to achieve the delivery targets against the production plan. This will entail the day-to-day administration and organisation of the manufacturing cell in terms of people and documentation. This will encompass assembly operatives' safety and training, managing first-line absences, probation reviews and other staffing requirements. Raising and closing of works orders, and archiving paperwork etc. The Cell Lead will ensure that the team members manufacture and assemble products in a safe manner to meet planned delivery times, cost, and quality requirements.

Responsibilities

Support the Manufacturing Lead and Team Leaders in all aspects of running the production cell to ensure that high quality product is delivered on time. When required, work autonomously in terms of running the production cell under the authorisation of the Manufacturing Lead or Team Leader. When required, manage the administration of production paperwork in line with the production plan. This will entail the acceptance of sales orders, raising and closing off- of works orders and archiving. Ensure that assembly operatives correctly follow production and safety instructions and build product to the highest standards. Help identify training requirements of team members to ensure that all team members are multi skilled and that they can be moved when required to other cells to meet the overall production plan. Help to train team members in the assemble, test techniques and test data recording necessary to meet product specifications and company quality standards. Ensure that every production stage or skill within their cell has coverage in the event of anyone's absence. Completion of return to work documentation after a team members absence, probation reviews and manage staffing matters with assistance from Team Lead, Manufacturing Lead, Manufacturing Manager and/or HR. Ensure staff skill rotation.

Requirements:

Lead by example and remain professional and embrace change management and continuous improvement. Be organised and self-motivated with initiative. Ability to work as part of a team and on their own. Must have the ability to read and understand work instructions and engineering drawings when necessary. Ability to communicate clearly and train assembly operatives in assembly and test techniques. Ability to review team member adherence to process and help improve adherence where necessary. Methodical Organised and self-motivated individual with initiative Good communication skills Good numeracy, literacy, and computer skills (Computer training given)
