Domestic and Social Assistants

About the job

The role is a blend of befriending and domestic assistance for the elderly, with specific dementia friendly support. You will be expected to ensure that clients homes are kept in order as well as being a consistently supportive and friendly source of social stimulation. You will be working with the same group of families in a set weekly pattern, as consistency for both you and the clients is essential.

Responsibilities and duties include:

Befriending and maintaining relationships with clients Domestic assistance/ support -Assisting in supporting community connections Supporting clients on outings eg. To assist them getting some shopping or taking them out for coffee. -Travelling between locations Observing/encouraging meals Documentation in visit notes and updating families
Hours

The posts are 16 hour/week contract. Covering 7 days week in a set pattern.

There may also be the opportunity for more regularly scheduled hours as new clients are taken on board.

Rate of pay 13.00 per hour

About you

Our ideal candidate is someone with a lot of compassion, understanding, and a helpful nature. As we provide clients with a tailored service to suit their needs, a friendly, welcoming presence can be a huge benefit to those we visit. A robust understanding of the conditions that affect elderly members of the community is also essential to provide the appropriate support and make informed decisions. You should be comfortable working solo and able to adapt to the different behaviours of each client and the changes within them. Good communication skills and patience are also essential qualities to create and maintain good relationships with our clients and their family.

Skills and requirements

Driving license and the use of a car with business insurance for work purposes is required. Food hygiene certificate is desirable but not essential. Successful candidates will be subject to a PVG Disclosure check and references. Monitoring and reporting: you must be able to effectively spot any changes in behavior or wellbeing and promptly record any details appropriately.
Relevant Experience

It is essential to have previous experience working with dementia. It is desirable but not essential to have experience working in an at home/community setting with dementia.
Training

Dementia specific online training to be completed. Food hygiene -Shadowing and support
