About the role
Balfour Beatty are seeking a Social Impact Coordinator to join our place-based Social Impact team to support events and programmes that deliver against our project requirements and make a difference to local people based in Inverness with travel to Elgin once per week.
Please note: Due to the travel involved, this role does come with a company car and as the successful applicant will need to hold a full driving license.
Within this role you'll support our existing team of Social Impact Managers within our Power Transmission & Distribution (PT&D) and Regional Scotland business to Support with data collation and data interpretation, ensuring that the data we are collecting and reporting is robust and to a high quality, whilst also supporting the team with both internal business reporting and external data reporting across all PT&D and Regional Scotland energy projects in Scotland.
The role offers flexible hybrid working, potentially based within either our offices in
Inverness, Elgin, Project sites in Highland and Moray and Home working
What you'll be doing
As a Social Impact Coordinator, you will have the following accountabilities:

  • Support our Social Impact team to set up data capturing processes which enable our energy projects to demonstrate our impacts on local communities - this will include collation of local labour statistics, apprentice data, graduate data, training completed on site, number of new jobs created.
  • Support our team to collate data to support reporting on spend data which includes spend within local areas, across Scotland, across UK, spend with SME's, spend with Social Enterprise's and Supported Businesses.
  • Supporting our team to collate data on travel, logistics and hospitality to support our reporting on number of staff nights in local accommodation, value of subsistence allowance, regional flights taken to local authorities, number of ferry journeys.
  • Support our team to collate data on our Community Investment activities which includes data on STEM workshops delivered, volunteering hours with local charities and donations/in kind contributions to local charities.
  • Support our Social Impact team to create monthly, quarterly and annual reports for our energy projects
  • Work with our Senior Social Impact Manager to create annual infographics which profiles our overall KPI's for all energy projects,
  • Supporting our projects to deliver social impact outcomes when required by developing local networks of community groups, third sector organisations, employability partners and charities.
Who we're looking for
You'll have the following:
  • A genuine passion for making a difference within the communities in which we operate.
  • An interest in data collection and a keen attention to detail
  • Has an awareness of Social Value tools, TOMs and interest in capturing Social Value measurements.
  • Excellent communication and planning skills and the ability to 'get things done' on projects that often have tight deadlines for reporting
  • Experience of working in a community facing role is desirable but not essential.
  • Strong IT skills across the Microsoft suite and comfortable learning about and working with new and evolving digital tools for reporting of outcomes.
  • Clean UK Driving License.
