Established in 1867, Long Rake Spar is the UK's largest supplier of specialist decorative aggregates. Operating from sites in Youlgrave, Derbyshire; Garston Docks, Liverpool; Prees, Shropshire; and Rye Harbour, East Sussex, our group includes four brands serving building merchants, landscapers, contractors, councils, garden centres, and consumers.
The Role
We are seeking an enthusiastic, creative, and strategically minded Social Media & Content Executive to manage and produce engaging digital content for our four brands.
This role focuses on creating high quality content and contributing to the digital presence of multiple brands. You will provide strategic input to campaigns and digital initiatives to ensure content aligns with business objectives and optimise our web and social media channels to increase brand awareness, customer engagement, and business growth.
You will be based at our Head Office in Youlgrave, with some travel to other sites or customer locations as required.
This role allows you to take responsibility of content creation and actively contribute to shaping the digital presence of multiple brands, working collaboratively with the marketing team to deliver campaigns and initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
Social Media & Content Creation
Create engaging content (imagery, video, copy) for social media channels and websites.
Schedule, post, and manage content across platforms using scheduling tools.
Develop creative campaigns and content strategies aligned with business objectives.
Monitor engagement, respond to audiences, and grow followings.
Stay ahead of social media trends, platform updates, and best practices to ensure content is current, engaging, and effective.
Track performance using analytics tools and report on engagement, reach, and campaign effectiveness.
Digital & Website Management
Develop, maintain, and optimise company websites with SEO-focused content, ensuring alignment with social media campaigns and overall digital strategy.
Liaise with external agencies for website development, updates, and maintenance.
Create, manage, and maintain accurate product data across CMS and PIM (Product Information Management) systems.
Campaigns & Events
Capture content at company events, exhibitions, and site visits.
Support product launches and marketing campaigns with social media and digital content.
Collaborate closely with the marketing team on creative campaigns and strategic initiatives.
Ensure secure and centralised management of platform credentials and access
Skills & Experience
Essential
Degree, A-levels/BTEC Level 4, or equivalent qualification in marketing, communications, digital media, or a related field
Proven experience in social media marketing, content creation, and digital engagement
Proficiency in Adobe Photoshop, Premiere Pro, or equivalent creative software
Knowledge of CMS administration, SEO copywriting, web content publishing, and PIM systems
Strong writing, editing, and communication skills.
Meticulous, organised, and able to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Initiative-taking, creative, and enthusiastic with pride in producing high-quality work.
Ability to work under pressure and manage time effectively.
Other Requirements
Flexibility to travel to other sites or customer locations as required (frequency varies)
Willingness to work occasional additional hours for events or campaigns.
