We launched straight into Sainsbury's nationwide in September, and we have big plans to scale over the next 12mths.
We're now looking for a
Social Media & Community Manager
to help build our brand universe across content, community and culture bringing the entire alterego world to life across platforms. We want to build the largest community of cottage cheese lovers in the world!

You will be our first full time hire at alterego. Employee number 1. This means you will shape the success of alterego.

Core responsibilities
Content Creation & Editing
You'll own content end-to-end, from concepting to scrappy filming to polished edits.
Create daily content across video, reel/TikTok, grid, and story formats
Build
short-form
and
longer narrative arcs
Edit in a way that's native to each platform
Develop surreal POV story approaches (e.g. "My manager asked me to..." vs. on-camera appearances)
Ensure content aligns with brand tone; irreverent, fun, self-aware, category-challenging
Daily Community Management
You will lead social from the inside making our accounts feel alive.
Daily stories, community updates, and brand reactive moments
Respond to comments & DMs with speed and personality
Engage with creators, fans, and relevant communities
Proactively interact with other accounts to grow reach
Build cult-like loyalty across channels
Channel Ownership
You'll run:
Instagram
TikTok
LinkedIn
Pinterest
Each with specific content plans and strategies. You will own the voice of the brand across these channels.
Influencer Management
You'll be the engine behind creator partnerships.
Source relevant creators and ambassadors
Negotiate, liaise, and manage relationships
Brief creators with recipe directions and brand guidelines
Track content delivery and usage
Build an ongoing roster
Partnerships & Collaborations
Co-create content with partner brands, venues, festivals, creators
Turn collaborations into high-performing social assets
Build hype around partnerships through storytelling and social-first activation
Sampling & Offline Activations
High-energy, social-first field marketing.
Street sampling
(create hypey, fun content around the interactions)
In-store demos
(support sales, drive trial)
Exhibitions & tradeshows
(capture content, support sell-in, tell brand story)
Paid/Boosted Social
Not performance marketing -- but you will:
Boost top-performing organic pieces
Work with agency/freelance partners on paid amplification
Understand the basics of paid performance for content success
Your skills
Must-Haves
2-4+ years in a social/content role (brand, agency, or creator side)
A
portfolio or feed
showing strong ability in TikTok/Reels, editing, and storytelling
Passion for social storytelling from memes to multi-week arcs
Strong video editing skills (eg CapCut/Premiere/Final Cut)
Experience managing creator/influencer relationships
Natural community builder with fast, witty response instincts
Comfortable being behind or in front of the camera
Highly self-sufficient
Thrives in challenger-brand energy: fast-moving, experimental, "shoot it now" mindset
Strong organisational skills for managing content calendars, conversations, collabs
Nice-to-Haves
Experience in food, FMCG, wellness, or DTC
Experience running or supporting events/sampling
Ability to think in both scrappy guerrilla content and polished campaign storytelling
Graphic design basics (Canva/Adobe tools)
Open to a new cottage cheese obsession
