Job Description

We are looking to recruit a creative and enthusiastic individual to join our team as the Social Media & Digital Content Coordinator at Bangor University Students' Union (Undeb Bangor).



Joining the organisation at a very crucial time of digital and online engagement, this is an exciting opportunity to shape the Union's digital presence and lead on the creation of impactful, student-focused content. The post holder will be responsible for managing and developing our social media channels (Instagram, TikTok, Facebook), creating engaging posts, stories, videos, and graphics that reflect the student voice and support our campaigns and events. They will also maintain and update our website, ensuring content is fresh, accessible, and aligned with our brand.



The ability to communicate confidently and effectively through the medium of Welsh is essential for this role.



Educated to A Level standard (or equivalent), the post holder will be responsible for advising on the development of the Students' Union's digital communications to ensure that all members are aware of the services and opportunities offered by Undeb Bangor. They will also contribute to the development of the Union's online membership system, website, and all digital platforms.



The ideal candidate will have proven experience delivering and coordinating impactful digital campaigns and maximising exposure across a range of social media and web platforms. They will have experience in website content administration and possess strong graphic design and creative skills, with experience in designing both online and physical promotional materials such as posters, logos, and flyers. Strong communication and organisational skills are essential, along with the ability to manage multiple projects and work collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.



The successful candidate will be expected to commence this permanent role as soon as reasonably possible.



This role will be located on campus at Bangor. Through our Dynamic Working framework, there will also be the option to spend some time working remotely (although remaining in the UK) to support work life balance, which will be discussed further with candidates at interview.

Overview


Work closely with the Communications and Marketing Lead on the Unions marketing communications and digital content work.
Create engaging and on-brand, physical content, such as posters, flyers and banners, incorporating strong graphic design principles to ensure visual impact, consistency, and audience appeal.
Create engaging content across all our social media platforms and website.
Help deliver campaigns and events, ensure brand consistency, and collaborate with students and staff to bring the student voice to life.
Update and maintain the website with fresh content and up-to-date event information.
Design posters, flyers, and banners and coordinate their production and printing.
Supervise and assign tasks to student staff.
Excellent written and verbal communication in both Welsh and English is essential for this role.Main Duties and Responsibilities



Social Media & Digital Content


Maintain and update the SU website, ensuring content is accurate, accessible and engaging.
Support the technical administration of the website, including user access.
Lead on creating and posting engaging content for the Students' Union's social media channels (Instagram, TikTok, Facebook), including daily Stories, posts, videos, and photos.
Produce creative, on-brand/on-trend graphics, videos, and written content that support campaigns, events, and student engagement.
Write engaging captions, newsletters, and student emails, ensuring content is clear, accessible, and relevant.
Plan and create digital content calendars to keep channels active and responsive.
Capture and edit photos and videos from SU events and activities to showcase the student experience.

Website & Communications


Update and maintain the Students' Union website with accurate, accessible, and engaging content.
Support the technical administration of the website, including user access.
Coordinate sending materials to print and ensure timely delivery.
Ensure all digital and print content aligns with the Students' Union brand and messaging.
Support the promotion of Students' Union events and initiatives through creative, student-focused campaigns.
Assist in delivering integrated marketing campaigns and engagement events.
Coordinate design and print production as required for campaigns and events.
Ensure content reflects the SU's brand and messaging.
Monitor digital engagement and use insight to inform improvements in content and functionality.
Create and support targeted student communications through email and other digital channels.
Keep up to date with digital trends and tools, recommending innovations to enhance engagement.

Campaigns & Print Design


Design posters, flyers, banners, and other creative assets to promote Students' Union campaigns and events.
Coordinate the production and printing of materials, ensuring timely delivery. Ensure all digital and print content is consistent with the Students' Union's brand and messaging.
Support the promotion of Students' Union events and initiatives through creative, student-focused campaigns.

Collaboration & Support


Work with colleagues, officers, and student groups to deliver content that represents the student voice.
Support key Union events by working closely with staff across teams and create engaging digital content for our events.
Collaborate with the University to align on campaigns and increase Union visibility.
Build and maintain strong working relationships across the Union, University, and with external partners.
Provide training and support on digital platforms and tools to Union staff and officers.
Support student groups in using the website effectively through training and guidance. Supervise, mentor and support student staff.

General


To support the development and implementation of relevant policies and procedures within the Union, working closely with the relevant manager and Officer.
Supporting the democratic structures within the Union.
Ensure that the core principles of the Students' Union are central to all work undertaken. Supporting the aims and ethos of the Students' Union and Bangor University throughout the course of their duties.
Adhering to and promote the Union's Environment and Sustainability policy and helping the organisation to achieve our pledge to lessen our impact on the environment.
Act as a public advocate for the organisation, promoting the work of the Students' Union to external stakeholders in the wider community.
Willingness to adopt a flexible approach to work hours including evening, weekend and remote working where necessary.Other Duties and Responsibilities

Person Specification



Essential


The ability to speak and write Welsh fluently in a wide variety of situations is essential for this post.
Educated to A-Level/NVQ Level 4 or equivalent experience.
Strong graphic design skills with experience in creating engaging digital and physical content. Experience managing social media channels and producing digital content.
Strong knowledge of digital tools and basic design/editing software (e.g., Canva, Adobe Creative Cloud).
Experience supporting website functionality.
Comfortable working with new technologies and software.
Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects effectively.
Ability to work creatively and collaboratively to deliver high-quality campaigns and content.
Confident using IT tools (including MS Office) and new technologies.
Excellent written and verbal communication in both Welsh and English.
Willing to work flexibly, including some evenings and weekends where necessary.
