Job Summary
The Shuttleworth Trust is looking for a creative and analytical Social Media Officer. With guidance from the Marketing Manager, and working closely with the Media & Communications Officer, this role will produce content for and manage all of the Trust's social media channels. An experienced storyteller with curiosity about how best to engage a range of audiences, this role will be adept at delivering captivating content to a high standard. An extremely organised individual, this role will work collaboratively with wider teams and understand the social media landscape inside out - maintaining a keen awareness of trends and opportunities for growth.
Content creation:
Create compelling content about the work of the Shuttleworth Trust, our assets and our staff and volunteers, to engage the public.
Implement and manage a clear and thorough schedule for all social media content.
Create and curate content that supports and promotes events, initiatives and public awareness campaigns.
Attend events to capture footage and generate captivating content, live updates and post-event content.
Work closely with the wider Marketing team to create a social media policy for Trust staff and volunteers.
Set up and monitor paid ads as required.
Maintain an awareness of current trends and opportunities across social platforms and in the wider cultural context of the UK and beyond.
Diversify content across channels and demographics according to the wider aims of the Trust and needs of events.
Actively focus on short form video content.
Maintain an awareness of significant dates within the Trust and in our wider culture to make the most of engagement opportunities.
To source and work with a range of volunteers to support the ability for larger scale content generation and story gathering.
Channel & community management:
Ensure that all scheduled and published content is accurate through exemplary proofing.
Respond to relevant comments/interactions across all social media channels, including but not limited to:
Engaging with suitable comments.* Hiding inappropriate/irrelevant comments - escalating where necessary.* Responding to all direct messages - working closely with the Media & Communications Officer to ensure responses are consistent with wider Trust communications.* Reviewing and managing collaborative posts - escalating where necessary.* Ensure channel headers, bios and links are up to date and optimised.
Actively grow engagement and followers across all channels.
Establish the Trust on new and emerging platforms.
Take ownership and responsibility of managing and developing all Trust social media channels.
Maintain thorough logs of channel and content performance as well as audience behaviours and demographics.
Regularly report on channel and content performance plus audience behaviours and demographics to the wider Marketing team.
Challenge and develop social media strategies based on evaluation of content performance and audience behaviour to optimise performance and engagement.
Influencer outreach:
Working closely with the Media & Communications Officer, ensure timely responses to any influencer activity/requests.
Pass on any potential new influencer leads to the Media & Communications Officer before responding appropriately following review.
General:
Undertake other duties as may be reasonably required.
