About the Role
Social work is at the heart of social and community innovations in mental health service in Trafford. An exciting opportunity has arisen, and we currently have a full-time social work vacancy within the Older Adult Community Mental Health Team in Trafford.
This is an exciting time to work as a mental health social worker due to the community transformational work which is underway with the aim to contribute to better practice, better mental health outcomes and place-based service which provide right care, at the right place, and the right time. Within the world of social work this reflects the prevent, reduce, delay statutory requirements within the Care Act 2014 and the importance of the wellbeing principle.
Within this social work role, the expectation will be that for the people you support lead fulfilling lives and reach their potential to live as independently as possible, that you work in a holistic approach, with the person and their social network, helping to strengthen and build sustainable families and social capital.
On a day-to-day basis you will work in a multi-disciplinary team and carry a caseload of people with severe mental health problems and organic conditions working within a Care Program Approach underpinned by the social model of disability, work within a strengths-based approach and deliver statutory duties as per the Care Act 2014 (and other applicable legislation such as the HRA 1998/ MHA 1983/ MCA 2005) and the mental health recovery model.
To support you to achieve this you will be supported with regular social work supervision and support to maintain your professional identity, access to relevant training from the Mental Health Trust and Trafford Council. You will have regular invites to Trafford's Adult Social Care Forum and made to feel part of the Trafford family alongside having strong links to Trafford's Principal Social Worker and CPD opportunities and career progression.
Social Workers applying for this role can work towards an AMHP qualification/ AMHP's and be part of the AMHP rota. If you are an AMHP you will be supported to maintain your AMHP status, be offered regular AMHP supervision, regular contact with our team of AMHPs who will provide peer support, advice, and AMHP related training opportunities to support your mandatory 18 hours per year AMHP related training. You will have access to the AMHP forum to meet with other colleagues and share information and best practice.
Your substantive employer will remain Trafford Council, and this role will be based within a community mental health team. It is important to note that both Trafford Council and Greater Manchester Mental Health work together in partnership and have both signed up to ensure the appointable candidate feels supported and valued by both organizations.
Both organizations actively encourage creativity and innovation that improve outcomes and embed best practice, and this social work role will enable the successful candidate to help shape and drive change, bring a strong human rights and social justice lens to balance a medical model of working whilst also bringing new experience, knowledge and ideas into the multi-agency teams.
