The Soft Furnishings Technician position is ideal for someone who is looking for a part time role (either 39 weeks or 52 weeks) based within a small team. The ideal person would have a knowledge of fabrics and dressing skills and able to maintain a high standard of soft furnishings in all the homes across the Trust.
Responsibilities for this role:
Ensuring that safety, quality and standard of soft furnishings are maintained throughout the organisation.
This includes dressing rooms, managing stock of all relevant items and be responsible for their distribution and installation of soft furnishings in various locations across the Trust.
Working closely with the Trust's Project & Maintenance team on the development and maintenance of all trust property.
Assisting in the preparation and successful operation of events throughout the organisation.
Undertaking training in personal and professional skills and in the Trust's ethos and systems and applying these in the working environment.
Assisting to create a caring, stimulating, and safe environment for client groups, staff and visitors.
Safeguarding and promoting the reputation of the Trust.
Taking all reasonable steps to safeguard your health and safety and that of the Trust's client groups, staff and visitors.

Soft Furnishings Technician
Purpose
To assist with maintaining & developing the Trusts interior environments
Reporting to
Soft Furnishings Manager
Main responsibilities
- To assist the Soft Furnishings Manager to maintain and develop to the Novalis Trust standard all of our environments with particular reference to our residential houses.
- To implement our regular programme of household checks and services including:
o Recorded House checks from site visits
o Supplying households with approved stock items
o Ensuring all soft furnishings are fire treated, clean and in good repair
o Maintaining and updating all other Household documentation including Fire Treatment records on SharePoint or digital files as required
- To implement the My Space programme in collaboration with the care and maintenance teams including
o Preparing and distributing all My Space documents enabling young people and residents to make their final choices for their bedrooms
o Assist with dressing of curtains or other soft furnishings as/when required and ensuring these are maintained to a good standard and/or replaced as needed
o Setting up the bedrooms in accordance with the My Space choices, or bedroom set up for new young people moving into houses
o Maintaining and updating all My Space documentation as required on SharePoint/other administrative systems
IT skills would be beneficial but some training will be given
- To undertake any specific tasks requested by the Soft Furnishing Manager for special events or holidays including Christmas, Celebration Days or Graduations.
- To assist the Soft Furnishings Manager with new development projects as required including:
When orders are delivered, set up the household items in the new areas in collaboration with the maintenance team
- Undertaking training in personal and professional skills and in the Trust's ethos and systems and applying these in the working environment.
- Assisting to create a caring, stimulating, and safe environment for client groups, staff and visitors.
- Safeguarding and promoting the reputation of the Trust.
- Taking all reasonable steps to safeguard your health and safety and that of the Trust's client groups, staff and visitors.
Mandatory training
- Safeguarding Children in Education and KCSiE updates (annually)
- Online Prevent Training (during induction)
- Health and Safety - Fire/manual handling (every 3 years)
