Are you a people-focused leader with a passion for building high-performing development teams? We're looking for an experienced Software Development Manager to join our growing technology organisation in Manchester.
The Role
This is a 100% hands-off management role - perfect for someone who thrives on leading, coaching, and developing people rather than writing code. You'll be responsible for a team of 12 talented software developers, working closely with QA, DevOps, and Architecture teams to deliver innovative solutions.
Key responsibilities include:

Leading, mentoring, and developing a team of software engineers.
Conducting performance reviews, 1-2-1s, and supporting career progression.
Driving recruitment and leading technical interviews.
Fostering a collaborative, inclusive, and high-performing team culture.
Partnering with stakeholders across QA, DevOps, and Architecture to ensure smooth delivery.

About You
We're looking for someone with proven experience managing and growing software development teams in a collaborative environment. While you won't be coding, a background in modern software development (ideally Java and/or React/TypeScript) will help you understand the challenges your team face and build credibility.
You should bring:

Strong leadership and coaching skills.
Experience in recruitment and building teams.
A passion for team culture, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
Excellent stakeholder management skills.
