About this role
We're searching for a Backend Software Engineer here at Just Eat Takeaway to join our Search Platform team within the Customer Pillar. This team is responsible for providing Search results to our customers and promoting Just Eat's partners on the apps and website. Serving millions of requests a day across all JET markets, we operate some of the highest scale, performant services in the business.
Our team operates with agile principles, emphasising flexibility, continuous improvement, and high-impact collaboration. We engage in sprint planning, daily stand-ups and retrospectives, which are foundational to our approach in managing projects and driving innovation.
Our team is co-located in Bristol, and we collaborate with global teams across Europe and Canada.
We're looking for someone who is excited to develop their career at JET and has a strong interest in learning the technologies and ways of working that we use. In return we will support your development and progression as a software engineer at JET. Location: Hybrid- 3 days a week from JETs Bristol office & 2 days working from home
Reporting to: Technology Manager
These are some of the key components to the position:

• Our tech stack runs in AWS and includes technologies like: C#.NET, EKS, RDS Aurora PostgreSQL, Redpanda Connect, SQS & SNS, S3, DynamoDB, Apache Kafka.
• We own the software we write end-to-end, from discovery of requirements all the way to operational support in production.
• We have a keen eye for performance and reliability considerations, using observability tools such as DataDog.
• Implement and manage CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions to ensure efficient and reliable software delivery.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product management to deliver high-quality software solutions.

What will you bring to the team?

• Prior experience working on APIs, and either experience or a strong interest in C# .NET development.
• Understanding and prior experience with HTTP and RESTful principles
• Demonstrable foundation in software engineering principles and best practices such as design patterns, microservices, event-driven architecture.
• Experience developing with AWS, Azure or GCP cloud services.
• Experience using CI/CD pipelines.
• An understanding of NoSQL and SQL databases.
• Demonstrable strong problem-solving, debugging, teamwork, and communication abilities
• Understanding of Agile methodologies, code efficiency/readability, pragmatic approaches, and commitment to test-driven development
