A fantastic opportunity has emerged for a Data/Software Engineering leader to collaborate with multi-functional teams within the Personalised Experiences and Communications Platform! As a head of data your responsibilities will be delivering the highest quality data capability, drawing upon your engineering expertise, whilst being open minded to the opportunities the cloud provides!
What you'll do
Lead the software engineering squads in delivering high-quality software applications and systems that leverage AI and machine learning to provide personalised experiences for our twenty-six million customers and users.
Work with the head of engineering, product managers, architects, and other partners to define and implement the software engineering squads' roadmap, scope, and tasks.
Mentor and coach, the software engineering squad, developing their skills and career growth.
Fix, debug, and resolve technical issues and challenges that arise during the software development lifecycle.
Deliver technical solutions that can be employed across multiple entities within the group.
Define consumption and integration patterns and data models and contracts.
Create automation tools for data reconciliation and curation.
Drive the culture of delivering highly secured and high-quality software.
Identify and eliminate recurring issues by automating processes.
Help in adopting best engineering practices like Test Driven Development, code reviews, Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery.

What you'll need
We understand no one can be an expert in every aspect of data/software Engineering. However, if you have coding or scripting knowledge / experience with a data engineering background, we would like to hear from you.
Experience in both leadership and engineering
Proven experience of delivering systems design, software development, testing and operational stability.
Knowledge of automation and CI/CD
Advanced knowledge of agile methodologies.
Proficiency in relevant programming languages, frameworks, and technologies, such as Python, Java, Rust, JavaScript, React, Angular, TensorFlow, PyTorch.
Experience in working with large-scale data sets, data pipelines, and cloud platforms, such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
Experience in using distributed systems and event driven architecture.
Practical experience of Cloud native solutions
Advanced knowledge of containers (Docker, Kubernetes) and experience with cloud platforms such as GCP, Azure or AWS.
Strong experience working with Kafka technologies.
Computer science fundamentals: a clear understanding of data structures, algorithms, software design, design patterns and core programming concepts.
Good understating of cloud storage, networking, and resource provisioning
It would be great if you had...
Certification in GCP "Cloud Architect", "Cloud Developer", "Professional Data Engineer"
Certification in Apache Kafka (CCDAK)
Strong experience in data analysis
Proficiency across the data lifecycle
