Job Description


A growing technology business which counts some of the world\'s biggest companies and governments amongst their customers is looking for a Technical Support Engineer. This role has been created to support the next stage of the company\'s growth and offers a mix of home and office (Lutterworth) working.

Please note that the role is Monday to Friday but will involve differing working hours each day - most working days will be times between 8am and 6.30pm (7.5 hours / day) but one day in 4 will be a 2.30pm to 10.30pm shift. You\'ll also be "on call" approx. 1 week in 8 - please note that there hasn\'t, at the time of writing, been a call during "on call" time in over 12 months.

The Role

As a Technical Support Engineer, you\'ll be part of a team that provides support to customers on a wide range of complex software solutions internationally. Your responsibilities will include, but not be limited to the following:

  • Logging and answering both technical and functional queries
  • Analysing and resolving application problems in complex, multi-tier customer deployments, often with no direct access to the affected system
  • Identifying and reporting defects in their application code, and managing fixes through Development

To succeed in the role of Technical Support Engineer, you\'ll have experience of a similar technical support role that has been focused on bespoke, complex software - you\'ll to enjoy working out how things work. Experience of multi-tier application support in a Microsoft environment, including at least some of the following is required:
  • IIS
  • TCP/IP
  • MS SQL
  • MS SQL Server
  • Active Directory/LDAP
  • COM/DCOM
  • PKI
Any experience of smartcards, firewalls, scripting languages and mobile app support, whilst not essential, would certainly hold you in good stead.
