Primary Purpose of the Role:

We are currently looking for a Software Test (IVV) Manager to join Thales UK Avionics Division based in Crawley, United Kingdom.

As a Software Test Manager you will have the opportunity to lead software delivery teams across a range of projects, operating systems and development environments.

You will play a pivotal role within the software team working across a range of technology based solutions for Civil and Military customers in the areas of airborne voice and data communication services to support cockpit and cabin; secure on-board connectivity to facilitate multiple levels of secure information exchange; and tactical mission support from planning to execution and post flight review.

This position will be part of an integrated project team working with Test Verification teams from a range of engineering disciplines and Thales UK software wider community where you will gain exposure to a broad range of Thales products across all business lines. You will be given the opportunity to demonstrate knowledge and experience, across time you will gain recognition and development opportunities with the opportunity to progress into a technical expert.

  • Interfaces to Specialists within AVS Businesses
  • External interfaces to Software Suppliers
  • Project Systems IVV Manager
Key Responsibilities and Tasks:

Day to day management of a software Test Verification team.

Planning and estimating software test and verification activities

Production of software IVV documentation e.g. SVP, STP,
  • Monitoring delivery progress and reporting to the Project Software Engineering Manager
Identifying resourcing requirements to the Discipline Manager, Software

Supporting and encouraging team members

Allocating assignments to team members

Key performance Indicators against Responsibilities and Tasks:
  • Take pro-active ownership of all software deliveries, delivering on time and within budget.
  • Understand and adhere to design decisions
  • Work with Technical Leads to ensure that all work produced is `designed to cost\'
  • Adopt the agreed business processes
Skills & Experience

Previous experience of Software test leadership

A track record of delivering software test and verification packages to schedule and budget.

A sound knowledge of Waterfall and Agile - Entire Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) Projects

Experienced in System Testing, HSIT, Unit Testing

Experienced in Requirement analysis, Design, Coding, Testing & Configuration management,

Real-Time embedded systems & software in Development and Testing

Scripting Technologies: e.g. Perl scripting, Python, MySQL, Visual Basic

Experience of using JIRA for tasking

In addition any of the following would be advantageous:
  • Ability to undertake development activities using Java / C / C++
  • Understanding of configuration management, GIT, BitBucket
  • Understanding of change control tools, JIRA
  • Understanding of continuous integration tools, use of Jenkins
  • Software Test tools \xe2\x80\x93 e.g. SCADE-QTE-RTRT, Rational Test Real Time (RTRT), Vector Cast
  • Software standards: RTCA - DO-178B-C, DO-330, DO-331, DO-332
  • DOORS
  • People management experience
