Role Overview:

We are seeking a motivated and experienced

Solar PV Design Engineer/Manager

to join our growing team in Manchester. This role will play a key part in designing efficient and compliant Solar PV systems, overseeing the technical aspects of projects, and managing a team of design engineers and technicians.

Key Responsibilities:

Design Solar PV systems for domestic, commercial, and industrial projects, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and industry standards. Prepare detailed technical drawings, layouts, and electrical schematics using design software such as AutoCAD, PVSol, or similar.
Conduct site surveys and feasibility studies to determine the optimal system design and performance. Collaborate with the sales, project management, and installation teams to deliver high-quality solutions on time and within budget. Liaise with DNOs (Distribution Network Operators) for grid connection applications and approvals. Manage and mentor junior design engineers and provide technical support to the wider team. Ensure all designs meet health & safety, building regulations, and customer specifications. Keep up to date with industry developments, technologies, and best practices.

Requirements:

Degree or equivalent qualification in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy, or a related field. Proven experience in designing Solar PV systems (domestic and commercial). Proficiency in relevant design software (e.g., PVSol, AutoCAD, SolarEdge Designer).
Strong understanding of UK electrical standards, grid connection requirements, and building regulations. Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines. Strong communication and team management skills. Full UK driving licence is desirable.
