The successful candidate will provide expert legal advice and representation to clients in Wales on all aspects of housing law and housing management. You will support registered social landlords, local authorities, housing associations, and private landlords with a wide range of housing-related matters, including tenancy issues, property disputes, and regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities
Advise and represent clients on housing management matters, including:
Possession claims and tenancy enforcement
Anti-social behaviour (injunctions, committal proceedings)
Disrepair claims and property conditions
Service charge disputes and rent arrears
Succession rights and tenancy variations
Prepare and manage cases from instruction through to conclusion, including advocacy in court.
Provide clear, practical, and timely legal advice tailored to clients' operational needs.
Keep up to date with developments in housing law and Welsh housing legislation, ensuring compliance with devolved housing regulations.
Build and maintain strong client relationships, providing a high standard of service and support.
Skills & Experience Required
Qualified solicitor with current practising certificate in England & Wales.
Experience in litigation preferable.
Desirable for some knowledge and practical experience of housing law and housing management issues, ideally with a focus on Welsh housing legislation.
Demonstrated experience in advocacy and case management.
Excellent drafting, negotiation, and communication skills.
Ability to manage a varied caseload with attention to detail and strong organisational skills.
A client-focused approach with a commitment to delivering high-quality service.
Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
Desirable
Previous experience acting for social landlords, local authorities, or housing associations.
Knowledge of devolved housing law and the Renting Homes (Wales) Act 2016.
