Open Law, a friendly and approachable firm based in Slaithwaite and Honley, is offering a fantastic opportunity for a Trainee Solicitor to start their legal journey with us!

What You'll Do

Gain practical, hands-on experience across a variety of legal practice areas. Attend client meetings and assist with case preparation. Conduct legal research and draft documents. Work closely with our experienced solicitors, gaining invaluable mentorship. Develop vital skills that will serve as the foundation of your legal career.

The solicitor graduate apprenticeship is a tailored pathway for individuals who already hold a law degree and wish to qualify as solicitors through a combination of practical work experience and academic study. Here's an overview of what this apprenticeship entails:

Structure and Duration

Duration

: Typically 2-3 years, depending on the employer and the apprentice's prior experience.

Training

: Combines on-the-job training with academic study. Apprentices spend at least 20% of their time in off-the-job training, which includes studying for the Solicitors Qualifying Examination (SQE). Apprentices study for the SQE, which is divided into two parts: SQE1 (legal knowledge) and SQE2 (practical legal skills).Training providers deliver the academic component, often through a combination of online learning, workshops, and tutorials.
