Job Introduction
Solution Architect
Location: Lincoln / Hybrid | Salary: 50,788 - 58,188 | Closing date: August 10th
Interview date: w/c Tuesday August 26th - September 5th
Help shape a smarter, more connected council.
Lincolnshire County Council is transforming the way it delivers digital services - and we're looking for an experienced and innovative Solution Architect to lead the design of scalable, secure, and future-ready solutions across our modern IT landscape.
This is a high-impact role at the heart of our Agile Product Teams. You'll work closely with Product Owners, delivery partners, and internal developers to shape solutions that make a real difference across social care, education, transport, and more.
About the Role
As a Solution Architect, you'll take ownership of technical solution design - writing high-level architecture documentation, making technology decisions, and participating in agile delivery across complex, multi-supplier teams.
You'll provide technical direction, assure supplier-led designs, and help guide LCC's adoption of Microsoft Fabric, Power Platform, ESRI ArcGIS, and wider cloud-based technologies. You'll also act as a key member of our Digital Design Authority (DDA), with voting responsibility on architectural governance.
Whether it's enabling automation, integrating platforms, or embedding best practice, you'll be central to how we future-proof our services and infrastructure.
What You'll Be Doing
Designing scalable, secure solutions across cloud, hybrid, and on-prem environments
Writing and maintaining high-level design documents and presenting them to governance boards
Driving technical decision-making within Agile Product Teams
Collaborating with Product Owners and development teams to deliver value quickly
Providing oversight to internal and external engineering resources
Assuring 3rd-party technical designs and supporting continuous improvement
Aligning solutions with security-by-design, integration, and data governance standards
Supporting cloud optimisation, performance tuning, and risk management
Keeping LCC aligned to frameworks such as GDAD and NIST CSF
Sharing best practice and influencing digital strategy across the organisation
About You
We're looking for a strategic thinker with deep experience in solution architecture and delivery.
You'll bring:
A strong track record designing modern, enterprise-level solutions
Confidence working with cloud platforms like Microsoft Fabric and Power Platform
Knowledge of data integration, security, and interoperability best practice
Experience in vendor assurance and governance
Agile delivery experience - especially shaping and sizing technical stories
Excellent collaboration and communication skills, with a user-first mindset
Certifications such as TOGAF or ITIL are desirable, but not essential - we're more focused on how you think and solve problems.
Why Join Us?

Work across a wide range of services that impact thousands of people
Join a growing architecture and strategy function that values your voice
Benefit from hybrid working, tailored development, and support for professional memberships
