The Opportunity
We are working with a leading energy manufacturer. This pioneering, forward-thinking engineering business is driving innovation in clean, intelligent energy solutions. They are looking for a Sourcing Specialist who is just as dynamic, proactive, and energetic as the products they design and build.
If you thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment where no two days are the same, this is your chance to play a key role in building cutting-edge technology.
What You'll Be Doing
You will be right at the heart of procurement, sourcing for hundreds of different items that keep production moving. No two builds are ever the same, sometimes you'll be handling a few hundred components, other times well over a thousand for complex projects.
Some examples include:
Precision metal components
Cable assemblies and circuit boards
Off-the-shelf items such as valves and raw materials
This is hands-on, direct sourcing. You will be making real decisions, building supplier relationships, and keeping things flowing.
Day-to-day, you will:
Manage spot buying and campaign-based purchasing
Engage with suppliers across the UK, EU, Asia, and the US
Partner with engineers and technical experts to get exactly what is needed
Visit suppliers and factories in the UK now, with potential for international travel in the future
The Team and Culture
You will join a close knit procurement team of five within a business that has been thriving for over 20 years. It is a people-first, collaborative culture where everyone supports each other.
The environment is open and inclusive:
Open plan office where leadership sit with the team
Collaborative, friendly, and supportive "the best thing about the place is the people"
No micromanagement, you will be trusted to take initiative and make things happen
About You
You will be educated to degree level (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline and will be a member of CIPS.
Ideally you will come from a manufacturing or engineering background.
You will have previous buying experience across a variety of direct and indirect categories, with exposure to category management and new product development projects.
You will be able to demonstrate management of supplier performance across quality, cost, delivery, and responsiveness, dealing with multiple stakeholders in a complex and varied environment.
It is key that you have a commercial and analytical mindset and the ability to work with a flexible, solutions-focused approach in an agile and fast-paced environment. You must also be able to work collaboratively with a cross-functional team alongside both technical and non-technical colleagues. As such, excellent communication and relationship management skills are vital.
If you are looking for somewhere you can grow, be trusted, and actually see the impact of your work, this is it.
