Job Overview:


We are seeking a talented and passionate sous chef to join our kitchen team. You will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth day-to-day operation of the kitchen, maintaining the highest culinary standards, and supporting our head chef in leading and orchestrating the team. Key Responsibilities:



Support Kitchen Operations:

Assist the Head Chef in managing kitchen operations, ensuring all dishes are prepared, cooked, and presented to the highest standard.

Food Preparation & Cooking:

Oversee and participate in the preparation, cooking, and plating of food, ensuring consistency in quality and presentation.

Team Leadership & Development:

Supervise, train, and mentor kitchen staff, fostering a positive and productive environment. Ensure all team members adhere to kitchen procedures and health & safety standards.

Inventory Management:

Assist in stock management, including inventory control, ordering, and proper rotation of ingredients. Ensure minimal food wastage.

Health & Safety Compliance:

Maintain strict hygiene and food safety standards, including sanitation practices and ensuring the kitchen complies with all local regulations.

Quality Control:

Monitor and maintain consistent quality control during service, ensuring dishes are served promptly and at the desired standard.

Collaboration:

Work closely with front-of-house staff to ensure efficient communication and a seamless dining experience for guests.

Budget Management:

Help control food costs by adhering to portion control, minimising waste, and following recipes accurately.

Key Skills & Requirements:



Proven experience as a Sous Chef, ideally in a pub, restaurant, or similar kitchen environment. Excellent culinary skills and a passion for preparing high-quality, fresh food. Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate kitchen staff. Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks efficiently. Solid understanding of kitchen equipment, cooking techniques, and food safety practices. A keen eye for detail and commitment to consistency in food quality and presentation. Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively with all staff members. Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and public holidays as required. Culinary degree or equivalent qualification is preferred, but not essential with relevant experience.
