We are currently on the hunt for a sous chef to take on the challenge of our exciting tapas restaurant in Dundee. The style of food is very preparation heavy so that service is as smooth and simple as possible with a focus on contemporary plating and presentation.
While we are searching for an experienced, talented and capable individual, one of our main priorities is finding someone who shares our passion for beautiful modern food.
The right candidate should have a minimum of 1 years experience in a sous chef role with a good knowledge of food and an ability to independently run a small team in a fast paced kitchen in the head chef's absence 2 days a week.
You will need good leadership, a full understanding of HACCP, EHO rules and regulations and an understanding of how to run a kitchen efficiently.
The company is fast growing with many big plans for expansion in the future. This role is a great way to be on the ground floor of something we hope will be really special.
Responsibilities:
- Assist the head chef in managing all aspects of the kitchen operations
- Help plan and develop menus, ensuring variety and quality of food
- Oversee food preparation and cooking processes
- Monitor inventory and order supplies as needed
- Ensure compliance with food safety and sanitation regulations
- Train and supervise kitchen staff
- Collaborate with the front-of-house team to ensure smooth service
- Assist in creating and implementing new recipes and dishes
Experience:
- Proven experience as a sous chef or similar role in a restaurant setting
- In-depth knowledge of culinary techniques and practices
- Strong leadership and communication skills
- Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed
