We are seeking a talented and passionate Sous Chef to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in food production and kitchen management, be used to working in a fast paced environment, demonstrating exceptional leadership skills and a commitment to food safety. As a Sous Chef, you will play a crucial role in supporting the Head Chef in delivering high-quality dishes while ensuring the smooth operation of the kitchen. When the Head Chef is not on site, you will lead the team and be responsible for the maintained delivery of high standards of dishes. This is a hands on role and you will lead by example.
Responsibilities
Assist the Head Chef in overseeing daily kitchen operations and managing staff.
Supervise food preparation and cooking processes to ensure consistency and quality.
Train and mentor kitchen staff, fostering a collaborative team environment.
Ensure compliance with food safety regulations and maintain cleanliness in the kitchen.
Collaborate with the culinary team to develop new menu items and seasonal offerings.
Monitor inventory levels and assist with ordering supplies as needed.
Handle any customer inquiries or complaints regarding food service and allergies.
Maintain a positive working atmosphere that encourages creativity and teamwork.
Qualifications
Proven experience in a similar role within a restaurant or hospitality environment.
Strong supervisory experience with the ability to manage and motivate a team effectively.
Extensive knowledge of food preparation techniques, cooking methods, and culinary trends.
Familiarity with food safety standards and regulations.
Excellent organisational skills with attention to detail in food presentation.
Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to liaise effectively with staff and customers.
A passion for culinary arts and a commitment to delivering exceptional dining experiences.
