We are seeking an experienced and motivated Sous Chef to join our full fresh food kitchen. This is a high-volume operation producing everything from scratch, delivering both large-scale events and daily restaurant service. We cater for up to 600 people per day, so proven experience working with fresh food at volume is essential. The Sous Chef will play a key leadership role, supporting the Head Chef in the day-to-day management and smooth running of the kitchen.
Key Responsibilities
Support the Head Chef in the daily operation of a busy, fresh food kitchen
Supervise, lead, and motivate the kitchen team to maintain high standards at all times
Assist with menu development, preparation, and execution for restaurant service and large events
Ensure all food is prepared, cooked, and presented to the highest quality standards
Manage high-volume service while maintaining consistency and attention to detail
Oversee food safety, hygiene, and health & safety compliance (HACCP)
Assist with stock control, ordering, and minimising waste
Train and develop junior kitchen staff
Step into the Head Chef role when required, ensuring continuity of service
Skills & Experience
Minimum of
3 years' experience
in a professional kitchen, ideally in a high-volume fresh food environment
Proven experience in
kitchen supervision or management
Strong background in cooking from scratch using fresh ingredients
Experience delivering large-scale catering and event service
Excellent organisational and time-management skills
Strong leadership and communication skills
Ability to perform under pressure in a fast-paced environment
Sound knowledge of food safety and hygiene regulations
