We here at Hampshire Pub Co ltd are seeking a dedicated and experienced Sous Chef to join our dynamic culinary team. Hampshire Pub co ltd is a multi-site company so there is lots of opportunity if you are successful in this role. You will be expected to run the kitchen when the head chef is off and work together with the kitchen team in smashing out good honest pub grub.
Responsibilities
Assist the Head Chef in planning and executing menus that meet quality standards and customer expectations
Supervise and coordinate the activities of kitchen staff, including cooks and kitchen assistants
Oversee food preparation, ensuring consistency in taste, presentation, and portion control
Maintain high standards of food safety, hygiene, and cleanliness in accordance with health regulations
Manage inventory levels, order supplies, and ensure proper storage of ingredients
Support the training and development of team members to enhance their skills and performance
Ensure efficient kitchen operations during service periods, including managing timings and workflow
Contribute to creating a positive work environment that promotes teamwork and professionalism
Requirements
Proven supervising experience within a busy kitchen environment
Strong background in food production, cooking, and food preparation techniques
Demonstrable team management skills with the ability to lead by example
Extensive kitchen experience with a focus on culinary excellence and food safety standards
Previous restaurant experience is highly desirable
Knowledge of hospitality practices including serving procedures and customer service principles
Leadership qualities with excellent organisational skills
Ability to work under pressure during peak hours while maintaining attention to detail
A recognised culinary qualification or relevant hospitality certification is preferred
