Job Overview


The Rivelin Inn is seeking a dedicated, experienced Sous Chef or , CDP ready to take the next step, to join our dynamic culinary team. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, a passion for food production, and extensive kitchen experience. As a vital part of our kitchen operations, the Sous Chef will assist the Head Chef in managing daily food preparation, supervising kitchen staff, and ensuring the highest standards of food safety and quality are maintained. Responsibilities



Assist the Head Chef in overseeing all aspects of kitchen operations, including food preparation and presentation. Supervise and manage kitchen staff, ensuring efficient teamwork and adherence to organisational standards. Prepare a variety of dishes according to established recipes and quality standards. Monitor food safety procedures and ensure compliance with health regulations at all times. Coordinate with front-of-house staff to ensure smooth service delivery. Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen environment, including equipment and storage areas. Support in menu planning, ingredient ordering, and stock control to minimise waste. Provide training and mentorship to junior kitchen staff to foster professional growth.

Experience



Proven supervisory experience within a busy kitchen environment, preferably in a restaurant or hospitality setting. Extensive experience in food production, cooking, and food preparation techniques. Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage a team effectively under pressure. Knowledge of food safety standards and best practices in culinary operations. Previous restaurant experience is highly desirable, with a solid understanding of hospitality service standards. Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within a team while maintaining high standards of quality and efficiency.
