Job Overview

We're looking for a passionate and reliable Full-Time Sous Chef to join the kitchen team at The Gates at Ford, a busy, welcoming country pub known for quality food, seasonal menus and a great atmosphere.

As Sous Chef, you'll work closely with the Head Chef to help run the kitchen day to day, ensuring consistently high standards of food, cleanliness and teamwork.

Duties

Assist the Head Chef in overseeing all aspects of kitchen operations, including food production and presentation. Prepare and cook a variety of dishes according to established recipes and standards, maintaining consistency and quality. Monitor food safety practices and ensure compliance with health regulations at all times. Coordinate with front-of-house staff to ensure seamless service delivery, including serving guests when required. Assist in menu planning and development, contributing creative ideas to enhance our culinary offerings. Manage inventory levels, order supplies, and ensure proper storage of ingredients to minimise waste. Maintain a clean and organised kitchen environment in accordance with hygiene standards.

Requirements

Proven experience in a role within professional kitchens, ideally within hospitality or restaurant settings. Extensive culinary experience with strong skills in food preparation and cooking techniques. Knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices in hygiene management. Experience in food production, restaurant operations, and customer service is highly desirable. Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail. Strong organisational skills with the capacity to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
