The Role: SEN Learning Support Assistant
This is a fantastic opportunity to join our dedicated Special Educational Needs (SEN) department, supporting students with a diverse range of needs, including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), Specific Learning Difficulties (SpLD), and Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. You will play a crucial role in removing barriers to learning and fostering independence.

Roles and Responsibilities

• Provide one-to-one and small-group support to students, both within the classroom and in specialized resource areas.
• Assist the class teacher in adapting learning materials and resources to meet individual Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) targets.
• Implement specific interventions and support strategies under the guidance of the SENCo and teaching staff.
• Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment, managing student behavior effectively and promoting self-esteem.
• Monitor and record student progress, providing regular feedback to teachers and the SENCo.
• Assist with students' personal care needs where required, maintaining dignity and respect at all times.
• Liaise with parents, carers, and external professionals (e.g., therapists, educational psychologists) as part of the student's support team.

What We're Looking For
We are seeking an enthusiastic, resilient, and dedicated individual who is committed to inclusive education.

• Proven experience working with children or young people, ideally in a SEN capacity.
• A strong understanding of the challenges faced by students with a range of SEN.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong, positive relationships with students, staff, and parents.
• Patience, empathy, and a nurturing approach to support students' emotional well-being and academic progress.
• The ability to work effectively as part of a team, as well as being able to use initiative.
• A minimum of GCSE Maths and English (Grade C/4 or equivalent).
• A relevant qualification (e.g., LSA/TA qualification) is desirable but not essential for candidates with exceptional relevant experience.
