The Role:
As a Special Education Needs (SEN) Teaching Assistant, you will be an essential part of an innovative team, providing crucial support to students and helping them thrive. Your key roles and responsibilities will include:

  • Providing one-to-one and small group support to students with a range of Special Educational Needs, including learning difficulties, physical disabilities, and social, emotional, and mental health needs.
  • Assisting the class teacher in preparing and delivering differentiated lessons and activities.
  • Helping to manage classroom behaviour and create a calm and productive learning atmosphere.
  • Supporting students with their social and emotional development, fostering their independence and self-esteem.
  • Assisting with the implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and monitoring student progress.
  • Collaborating with teachers, parents, and other professionals to ensure a holistic approach to student support.
  • Supervising students during break times, lunch, and school trips, ensuring their safety and well-being.
  • Preparing learning resources and maintaining a tidy and organised classroom environment.

  • Experience in a similar role or with children with special educational needs.
  • Excellent communication, listening, and interpersonal skills.

  • The ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
  • A proactive and adaptable approach to challenges.
  • A positive attitude and a good sense of humour.
  • A relevant qualification (e.g., Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant certificate) is desirable but not essential.
