Overview


We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Special Education Teacher to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to educating students with diverse learning needs and the ability to create an inclusive and supportive classroom environment. This role requires effective communication skills, patience, and a deep understanding of special education practices. The Special Education Teacher will work closely with students, parents, and other educators to ensure that each child receives the tailored support they need to thrive academically and socially.

Responsibilities



Develop and implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) tailored to each student's unique needs. Provide instruction in core subjects such as Maths, ensuring that lessons are accessible and engaging for all learners. Utilise behaviour management techniques to foster a positive learning environment. Collaborate with other educators to integrate special education strategies into general classroom settings. Conduct assessments to monitor student progress and adjust teaching methods accordingly. Offer tutoring support in various subjects, including literacy and numeracy, as needed. Facilitate speech therapy sessions or coordinate with speech therapists to support students with communication challenges. Engage in ongoing professional development to stay current with best practices in special education.

Experience



Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent qualification in Special Education is essential. Previous experience working with children with special educational needs is highly desirable. Familiarity with teaching physical education and providing childcare support is advantageous. Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, are necessary for effective collaboration with students, parents, and colleagues. A background in behaviour management techniques will be beneficial in addressing the diverse challenges faced by students.
