We are seeking a skilled and compassionate
Special Needs Teaching Assistant
to join a welcoming and forward-thinking primary school in
Enfield
. You will be working closely with pupils who have complex needs, including autism spectrum conditions, communication delays, and behavioural challenges.
Key Responsibilities
Provide dedicated 1:1 or small-group support for pupils with SEN
Use
Makaton
and
PECS (Picture Exchange Communication System)
to support communication and independence
Adapt learning materials and strategies to individual pupil needs
Support the implementation of EHCP (Education, Health and Care Plan) targets
Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, therapists, and families
What We're Looking For
Proven experience supporting children with special educational needs
Familiarity or training in Makaton and PECS is essential
A nurturing, patient, and resilient approach to behaviour and emotional regulation
Strong communication and teamwork skills
A commitment to helping every child thrive socially, emotionally, and academically
Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to obtain one)
