About the Role
Are you committed to supporting children with special educational needs in achieving their full potential? We are looking for a compassionate, proactive, and skilled Special Educational Needs Teaching Assistant (SENTA) to join a highly regarded primary school in Barnet.
In this role, you will:
Provide 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with additional needs, including ASD, ADHD, and speech and language difficulties
Use communication strategies such as
Makaton
and
PECS (Picture Exchange Communication System)
to support non-verbal or minimally verbal pupils
Help deliver tailored interventions and behaviour support strategies
Work closely with the SENCO, class teachers, speech and language therapists, and parents to ensure cohesive support

Who We're Looking For
Experience supporting children with SEN, especially those with communication difficulties
Familiarity or training in
Makaton
and/or
PECS
is highly desirable
A patient, empathetic, and enthusiastic approach to education
Ability to adapt, stay calm under pressure, and build trust with young learners
A valid Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain one)
