Deliver specialist education, including SORT and Command training.
Support design and delivery of multi?agency training/exercises to national standards.
Contribute to policy development and ensure compliance with national guidance.
Collaborate with Police, Fire, Military, NHS bodies, and other responders.
Assist in maintaining specialist incident support equipment and vehicles.
Capture lessons learned from exercises/incidents to drive continuous improvement.
This is a dynamic role requiring excellent communication, leadership, and problem?solving skills.
You will need frontline ambulance service experience, accredited training/teaching qualifications, and active involvement in SORT. A strong understanding of emergency preparedness and resilience is essential.
Joining EMAS as a Special Operations Trainer means being part of a team dedicated to preparing and supporting colleagues, ensuring the Trust is ready to respond.
You will be responsible for the delivery of Special Operations Response Team (SORT) training to EMAS clinical staff to ensure they are prepared as possible to respond to a Marauding Terrorist Attack (MTA) and/or a Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear (CBRN) incidents.
Other duties will include delivery of CBRN training to acute trusts and organising and running multi-agency local and regional MTA and/or CBRN exercises. The role will also include tasks such as performing audits, writing policies and procedures and other business related tasks.
Trainers will work Monday to Friday in office hours but may be asked to train in the evenings or at the weekend by prior agreement.
The training will be initially delivered from the Operational Support Unit in Mansfield, however there may be scope for another venue within the Region at some point.
Essential skills and qualities include experience of teaching complex topics to a varying audience, well versed with Microsoft Office products, ability to produce and deliver high quality work under pressure, balancing different tasks and priorities and always presenting a professional image.

You will need to complete a nationally standardised Physical Competency Assessment (PCA) that all SORT operatives undertake prior to being appointed to this role.
The EMAS Resilience directorate includes teams who work in Emergency Preparedness, Resilience and Response (EPRR), Special Operations, the Hazardous Area Response Team (HART) and Command and Control (C2) education.
