As we continue to grow, following from our new secondary building, we are looking to recruit Special Support Assistants to works across our school.


Highfurlong School is a four times Outstanding special school academy in Blackpool, providing education for pupils aged 2-19 years with a wide range of special educational needs. Our state of the art facilities provide education to nursery, primary, secondary and post 16 children and young people. With 124 pupils on roll our 'child first' ethos underpins everything that we do. Through all areas of our work we strive to inspire our pupils, challenge them to be the best that they can be and believe in them. Highfurlong School is part of Synergy Education Trust- a mixed phase multi academy trust based in Blackpool.



As Lancashire's Education Establishment of the Year 2023, National School of the Year 2021 and the UK's Happiest School of the Year 2019, Highfurlong School is looking for enthusiastic, caring and dedicated people to join our Highfurlong team. We are looking to appoint several Special Support Assistants to workacross our school.


The successful candidate will:

Work as part of the professional intimate personal care team across the full age range of children in school (2-19 years, male and female). To work with teachers as part of a professional team to support teaching and learning for SEN pupils. Providing learning support to pupils who need particular help to overcome barriers to learning, such as those with moderate, severe, profound and multiple learning difficulties and/or behavioural, social, communication, sensory or physical disabilities.


The role is 32.5 hours per week, 8.45 to 3.45, Monday to Friday and term time only plus 1.6 weeks. You would be required to start September 2025.
