To support provision of a high-quality childrens physiotherapy service to a caseload of children and young people ages 0-16 years with identified MSK/orthopaedic/rheumatological physiotherapy needs. There may also be opportunities to work in other community settings such as home visits, mainstream schools, special schools and pre-school settings. It is assumed that the post holder will have had previous paediatric physiotherapy experience, providing specialist physiotherapy to children in a variety of settings including MSK/Orthopaedic/Rheumatology specialities. The post holder will be an autonomous practitioner providing a specialist physiotherapy service to a designated caseload of children with a range of physical and mobility difficulties and Special Educational Needs (SEN).
A significant proportion of these children will have English as an additional language (EAL). He/she will be expected to manage their own caseload, travelling between community settings as necessary and working alongside teaching, medical and nursing staff to ensure specialist therapy programmes are in place for children under their care. He/she will be expected to work collaboratively children/young people (CYP), parents/carers and with colleagues in Health, Education and Social Services in planning and delivery of services. The post holder will contribute to departmental meetings, clinical audit and research projects.
They will provide advice and deliver training to other professionals and parents/carers on all aspects of paediatric physiotherapy. He/she will provide clinical education and training to physiotherapy students and will supervise the work of the PTAs and LSAs.
