The City of Doncaster Council puts improving the life of its residents at the centre of everything we do. We are looking for a confident and ambitious individual to support children and young people with hearing impairment in Doncaster.
We are looking to recruit a
Specialist Communication Support Worker
to be part of our team. In order to join us, you will need to be passionate about education and be someone who strives to make a difference in the lives of our deaf children, young people and their families. You will be trained to at least Level 2 British Sign Language (BSL) and be willing to undertake further training with the Service to develop your BSL skills further (i.e. to achieve Level 3 BSL qualification), or to be a fluent BSL user from lived experience.
The post will be based at our Hearing Impaired Additionally Resourced Centres (HIARC's) at Plover Primary and/ or Outwood Academy Danum, however, successful candidates will be expected to work in a peripatetic role, if required.
Required as soon as possible, the successful applicant will join our team of Specialist Teachers of the Deaf, Deaf Instructor, Communication Support Workers and Technical Support Specialists. As part of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), the Service for Children with a Hearing Impairment supports children and young people, their families, early years and school settings, as well as other professionals within Doncaster Children's Services.
