Job Description

About SENse Support

At SENse Support, we empower the exceptional.

We are a specialist alternative education provider for neurodivergent and vulnerable young people who have struggled to access mainstream learning. Most of our students are in educational crisis. Our work is guided by our neuro-affirming, trauma-informed and relational ethos, grounded in the belief that every young person can thrive when they feel safe, understood, and valued.

Our EMPOWER Framework - Empathy, Mindful Communication, Professionalism, Ownership, Wellbeing, Empowerment, and Respect - shapes everything we do. We call it our culture of Just Practice: reflective, dignified, and growth-focused for students and staff alike.

Role Overview

As a Specialist Nurture Teacher, you'll design and deliver bespoke, engaging lessons for students between key stages 2 - 4 with a range of SEND, including Autism, ADHD, and SEMH needs. You will work closely with our Head of Education, SENCO, therapists and support staff to create an inclusive, low-arousal, high-expectation environment where learning is meaningful, accessible and aspirational.

This role is ideal for a teacher with experience in specialist or alternative settings who thrives in relational practice, creativity, and adaptive teaching.

Key Responsibilities

Teaching & Learning

Deliver Quality First Teaching (QFT) that adapts responsively to student needs and promotes measurable progress. Plan lessons using ILPs, PBSPs and EHCP outcomes, embedding literacy and numeracy across the curriculum. Create a calm, structured and safe learning space that supports emotional regulation and engagement. Scaffold learning up -- removing barriers without diluting challenge. Maintain high aspirations for every student through personalised targets and differentiated approaches.

Assessment & Progress

Track and evidence progress using the MAPP Framework and SENse systems on Microsoft 365. Provide formative and summative feedback that celebrates effort, growth, and independence. Contribute to student reviews and multi-agency meetings, ensuring clear communication with parents and professionals.

Collaboration & Culture

Work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team (Education, Therapy, and Pastoral) to deliver joined-up support. Participate in weekly professional supervision and reflective practice sessions. Contribute to SENse's organisational development, curriculum improvement, and educational innovation. Model SENse's 'Empowering the Exceptional' ethos in all communication and relationships.

Safeguarding & Compliance

Follow all SENse Support safeguarding, health and safety, and behaviour policies. Maintain professional boundaries and uphold confidentiality at all times. Promote equality, diversity, and inclusion in line with the SEND Code of Practice.
